Abstract
The purpose of this paper is to present the design of a prototype of a fluorescence microscope for the detection of bovine mastitis. Initially, an explanation of the physical fundamentals of fluorescence microscopy is given, then the composition of the designed prototype is shown. For the case study, a comparison is made between the qualitative method for mastitis detection (California Mastitis Test) and the proposed quantitative method ( Somatic Cell Count) . At the end, recommendations and conclusions of the case study are made based on the results obtained through the qualitative and quantitative technique.
