Abstract
Failures in the drug supply system in pharmaceutical services have become a problem for patients, since sometimes they do not have access to the drugs they require, which, in many cases, are for treatment. chronic. Objective: To identify the factors that cause deficiency in the availability of medicines in a pharmaceutical service in Copacabana Antioquia. Methodology: To identify the possible factors that produce the shortage of medicines in a pharmaceutical service in Copacabana Antioquia. Results: 45 exhausted drugs from 17 pharmacological groups were found. Antibiotics were the pharmacological group with the greatest shortages, in total there were 11 drugs in this group. In their order, antipsychotics and antihistamines followed each with 7 medications, then antihypertensives with 4, antimycotics with 3, and antiulcer drugs with 2 medications. Conclusion: There is strong evidence that the shortage of medicines in the pharmaceutical service studied is an extremely common problem for both the service and the community, which can put the health of patients and their quality of life at risk. The reasons for drug shortages are diverse and often multidimensional, including the ability to expedite health permit procedures, and the untimely purchase of drugs
