Abstract

The supply chain of the textile and fashion industry faces great environmental challenges, since it experiences important problems linked to the production and distribution process, which is characterized by the intense use of chemical products and natural resources, greenhouse gas emissions, excessive packaging and packaging and inefficient distribution practices within supply chains, resulting in a high global environmental impact. Fashion consumers «fast fashion» see fashion as vital to their self-identity, but show little concern for the environment. At present, the tendency of a large percentage of consumers is to be willing to pay more for sustainable fashion or “slow fashion”, respectful of the environment (prepared by environmentally sustainable manufacturers), allowing the environment and people to coexist with more friendly and healthy way.
