Abstract
Sustainable construction is an approach widely sought after by governments, environmentalists and other interest groups who recognize its benefits. In fact, on September 25, 2015, the UN General Assembly developed an action plan in favor of planet earth and its inhabitants, for the strengthening of universal peace and access to justice. Its fundamental focus is the eradication of poverty. This document establishes 17 sustainable development goals (SDGs) with 169 goals. But perhaps the SDG that comes closest to sustainable construction is inevitably number eleven: “sustainable cities and communities”. In this document, a bibliographical analysis is made on the current topics of construction and sustainable housing. Following is a description of alternative construction materials and other measures that contribute to sustainability in construction. At the end, a brief conclusion and reflection is made to the interest groups that have to do with sustainability.
