Abstract
This document attempts to provide an approach to the value chain of liquefied natural gas (LNG), starting from obtaining natural gas, liquefaction, storage, transportation, re-gasification and more important uses. In addition, its contribution and importance for sustainability as a fuel with low greenhouse gas emissions. The study is done through searches of the most recent primary sources of information. It is noted that the war between Ukraine and Russia (a large producer and exporter of natural gas) has greatly affected imports of this fuel to many European countries, giving rise to setting their sights on other large producers.
In the same way, a look is made at Colombia, in relation to its consumption and its production, and what the government and some companies are currently doing to supply the needs of Colombians. In the short term, LNG is being imported through the port of Buenaventura in a satellite regasification plant, in addition to the discovery of a natural gas well in the Colombian Caribbean.
