Abstract
For several years, various investigations have demonstrated the impact of anthropogenic activities on climate change and the repercussions that these have had on agriculture and food systems. The inability of the environment to cushion the effects caused by man has become evident, which is why taking decisive action against this problem is imminent. The text analyzes how, from our role as consumers, we contribute to the unsustainability of current production systems; Likewise, the perspective of producers and industrialists is considered in the face of the immense challenges that lie ahead thanks to the acceleration of climate change. Finally, three mechanisms are proposed to promote responsible consumption and production that can be applied in Colombia based on successful experiences from other countries, where public policies and the commitment of the different members of the value chains and scientific community are crucial for transform food systems and therefore chart a sustainable future for all of society.
