Simultaneous sending or duplicate publication
Documents submitted for evaluation and possible publication should not be sent simultaneously to another journal. This practice invalidates its originality and compromises publication rights. Sending the same manuscript simultaneously for consideration of two or more journals is a serious lack of academic ethics. The journal reserves the rights of total or partial reproduction of the material, as well as accepting or rejecting it. Similarly, the right to make editorial changes if considered appropriate. In this case, the author will receive written recommendations from the reviewers. If accepted, the authors will submit the manuscript with the suggested adjustments within the dates established by the journal to guarantee its publication in the programmed number. Manuscripts that do not meet the author’s guidelines will not be accepted for the double-blind peer-review process. The cover letter of the manuscript must be signed by all authors.
Fragmentation
Informador Técnico establishes that the manuscripts sent to the journal must be unpublished and original. Therefore, fragmentation of large studies can lead readers to confusion. Hence, previously published research must be cited appropriately. Relevant information must not be repeated because this information could be detected by the software used to verify originality. Likewise, the author will be willing to accept the requirements asked by the editorial team, and reviewers about the previous studies published on the subject of the manuscript.
Fraud
The manuscripts submitted to Informador Técnico must be the result of research projects with data generated by experiments or observations, not because of an invention or data manipulation. Fabrication and falsification of data is an improper practice.
Image manipulation: Images can be manipulated only to obtain more clarity. Modifications of brightness, contrast, or color can be made if they do not darken or eliminate the information of the original image. Every image must be cited in the manuscript.
Plagiarism
Informador Técnico uses iThenticate software, which verifies the degree of similarity, originality, and authenticity, comparing manuscripts with articles published in indexed databases and any internet resource. Manuscripts detected with plagiarism will be rejected by the editorial committee of the journal.
Conflict of interests
The authors must assure the authorship of the manuscript. All the authors must have worked on the development of the research, the writing, and the references of the manuscript. Each author must be in a capacity to explain his or her contribution to the manuscript and support its content to the Editorial Committee in case of being required. The inclusion of honorary authors is considered improper conduct. The authors must declare not to have relationships of commercial interests that conduced to the research. The last version of the manuscript must be approved by all the authors.
Changes in authorship
It refers to the addition, removal, or adjustment of the order of the authors before the manuscript can be published online. The corresponding author must request the editor, the reason for the change through a written communication signed by all authors, certifying that all authors agree with the modification.
Errata, correction, retraction, and removal policy
Articles and documents published by Informador Técnico will remain valid and unaltered, according to the individual case. However, if exceptional circumstances occur, in which a published article needs to be corrected, retracted, or even withdrawn, actions will be taken after careful consideration by the editorial team, to guarantee the quality of the contents and compliance with the rules established by the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE).
In such cases, there are several procedures of rectification established by the norms and mechanisms to control scientific communication, according to the type and seriousness of the detected inaccuracy. These can take the form of an erratum, a correction, a retraction, or in rare occasions, the removal of an article. The purpose of this mechanism is transparency and the integrity of the academic record.
Errata
An erratum notice will be published when it is necessary to correct an error or omission made by the journal, that can affect the publishing record or the reputation of the journal or the authors. However, in this case, the academic integrity of the article remains intact.
Corrections
A notice of correction will be published when an error or omission made by the author needs to be corrected because it would affect the publication’s record or the reputation of the authors or the journal, but not the academic integrity of the article.
Retractions
A notice of retraction will be published when a major error invalidates the conclusions of a published article, or in cases of misconduct in the research or publication process. Authors can request a retraction of their articles if they meet retraction criteria.
Removal
The removal of an article will happen in exceptional circumstances, when errors are too severe to be addressed through a notice of correction or retraction.
