Abstract
A topic as elementary in metrology, as are the units of measure, still wreakshavoc at the global level. The programs of metrification in the United States are
advancing by leaps and bounds. What can happen with developing countries
when the United States changes its production infrastructure to the metric system?
Situations in Colombia are discussed, to ponder in organizations, especially
in the academic environment for metrological education.
