Abstract
The demand for mechanical components of high quality and great accuracy for high precision systems is increasing considerably worldwide in the last years. This fact has caused the development of new technologies applied to the cutting processes. The development of machining tools, cutting tools and machining technology allowed the application of cutting at high speeds, what is called High Speed Cutting, HSC. The increase of cutting speeds is one of the ways to improve the efficiency of productive processes, through the reduction of manufacturing and substitution times and through the reduction of another elaboration processes that are part of the productive chain. As it's a relatively new process, HSC was implemented just since 90's, and many technological issues are still being studied. On the other hand, the characteristics of this already known of this technology show a good perspective of application in the most diverse segments in the industry, such as molds and dies.
