Abstract
Through aphorisms, we expose fundamental questions to work with narratives, whether in research or education. Biographical-narrative research is presented as a tool to analyze social processes, starting from the lives of the subjects. With this common thread, other issues arise, such as the epistemological reflection on the work itself, the subjects as historically situated, the importance of sensitive listening, metaphors, images and contexts that are commonly lost from sight. Without wanting to exhaust the possibilities or trivialize the aphorisms, we conclude that the social inhabits each person, and that everyone inhabits the social, and that our vigil is sustained by the world that people inhabit and the world that inhabits them.
