Abstract
The objective of this research is to develop a technology-based tool for the improvement of logistics management and operation in the main distributors of mass consumption products in Ibagué. In particular, the research seeks to contribute to the improvement of the main inventory management decisions, specifically in the planning of purchase orders in the distributors.
Phase 1. Diagnosis and characterization of the main distribution companies of mass consumption products in Ibagué.
Phase 2. Formulate strategies to identify and select inventory control policies.
Phase 3. Generate a tool to establish a model to improve decision making.
Inventory management responds to the problems that arise in organizations about buying and maintaining stock, formulating and answering questions of what, where, when and how much to buy, with the main objective of reducing costs through the implementation of computational tools with different levels of service that allow determining the most profitable situation (Ballou, 2004).
